The difference between eddy current separator and electrostatic separator

Nov 02, 2021

Electrostatic separator and eddy current separator equipment are common types of old metal separation and recovery equipment. Because these two equipment are used to separate non-ferrous and non-metallic mixtures, many customers will confuse the two. Then on earth Is it a kind of electrostatic sorting and eddy current sorting equipment or different? What is the fundamental difference between the two?

1. The direct performance of the two types of equipment is: the material targeted by the eddy current separator is greater than 5mm in diameter, and the material targeted by the electrostatic separator is less than 1mm. The diameter of the materials that can be separated by the two is different, and the eddy current separator The fine materials that cannot be selected can be selected by electrostatic separation, and the large materials that cannot be selected by electrostatic separation can be selected by eddy current separation.

2. The working principles of the two devices are different: electrostatic sorting is sorting by high-voltage electricity, and eddy current sorting is sorting by strong magnetic field. The two are essentially different.

Electrostatic sorting uses high-voltage static electricity to make non-ferrous metals with electrodes. The electrodes of the sorting magnetic roller are the same as the electrodes on the metal surface, and the principle of repulsion of the motor is more to separate copper and aluminum from the non-metal. The eddy current separator uses alternating induced magnetic poles to continuously cut non-ferrous metals during high-speed operation to produce eddy current reactions, so that the surface of non-ferrous metals has a mirror image magnetic field, and separates copper and aluminum from non-metallic materials through the principle of repulsion of the same magnetic poles.

3. The working efficiency of the two is very different: the separation efficiency of the electrostatic separator is low, and the separation efficiency of the eddy current separator is high. Usually, the electrostatic separation is used when the material handling capacity is small and very fine. Eddy current sorting can be used in the case of large and large processing capacity.

4. The power consumption of the two is different: electrostatic sorting consumes a lot of power, while eddy current sorting consumes less power. It should be because the electrostatic sorting is sorted by high-voltage static electricity, so the power consumption is higher than that of eddy current sorting. Material sorting is much higher.
